Brown Mamas
Brown Mamas is a Pittsburgh-based community brand that provides culturally centered resources and support for Black mothers. Founded by Muffy Mendoza, the platform empowers moms to thrive through intentional community-building, events, and resources.
The old Brown Mamas website, built on WordPress, was bloated with too many pages, outdated content, and a backend that was hard to manage without technical support. Over the years, it became frozen in time and some key functionality broke, causing it to become more of a headache than a helpful marketing tool.
Muffy needed a site that wasn't only easier to maintain but also better reflected the streamlined, intentional direction that Brown Mamas was headed. As she transitioned into a new season, she wanted a legacy website that could operate smoothly without her at the center of it.

The end result

Website before and after

What happened after the site launched
Muffy came to me with a WordPress site that needed constant babysitting. She left The Lab with one that runs itself.
I migrated the entire site from WordPress to Webflow, so nobody's stuck waiting on plugin updates or backend headaches. I cut the content bloat and rebuilt the navigation so visitors can find their way into the movement in a few clicks instead of getting lost.
I unified Brown Mamas' Care Collective, Chapter Training, and Mindset Training into one Leadership Library, turning 3 scattered offers into one clear path to lead. And I equipped the team with an event calendar they can update in minutes, no website developer required.
The result is a site built to outlast any one person's involvement. Which was the whole point of the project.
